Incorporated in 2001 and based in LaVergne, Tennessee, the Players include a guitar instructor, a fencing instructor, managers, college students and others across the spectrum of industry. But when they arrive at your event, they're professionals: playwrights, puppeteers, artists, singers and trained armsmen. As paid talent at nine different Renaissance festivals, as well as street fairs, conventions and private events, the Players have built a repertoire of skills and potential offerings guaranteed to be a match for any event imaginable.
While each event is different, several standard acts can be quickly adapted to your event:
Living Chessmatch One of the premium attractions at Renaissance faires, the Living Chessmatch is both a tradition and a crowd-pleaser. Adaptable to most any setting (medieval, Celtic, and pirate to name a few), 32 Players will bring laughs and thrilling swordplay. The Players use "live steel" that is, real weaponry that evokes all the clashes and cringes of true medieval combat.
Tournaments Perhaps the most scalable product, Tournaments can involve from eight Players to as many as your event needs demand. It's totally variable. In the past, the Players have performed this rendition for conventions and faires diverse as anime and high fantasy.
Stage Shows The Players perform a wide range of shows that are customizable to any time and place. We field classically trained actors and dancers for shows Shakesperean and slapstick. We can field shows that involve combat, fine acting or a careful mixture of the two.
Puppetry This is a time-tested favorite for audiences young and old. We'll use professionally crafted sets and hand-sewn puppets from our own members that are guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone's face.
Improvisation Need a wandering gypsy? A still mime? A hero or a scoundrel? From one to dozens, character actors are in no short supply with the Players.
Fairies Invoke childrens' imaginations with a troop of fairies. Our fairies work under protocols that keep the imagination in play. You won't see them traipsing around in sneakers or wearing department-store finds. All of our fairies' performance styles are vetted by the group's board of directors and all outfits are custom-made.
Educational Shows Our Players include experts in weaponry, fine literature and history that can present dynamic and fun-filled educational shows to your group or school.
Other Talents Almost everyone in the group has a talent that can be added to your event's lineup. Some of the many include face-painting, pottery, singing, dance, instrumental music, costuming and improvisational poetry. Many of these talents can be seen on display at the Players' vendor booths, where their handiwork is sold for both the benefit of the group and the individual.
